The East Texas Goat Raisers Association invites all folks to participate in their Fall Sale on Saturday, September 17th at the Ike Carden Arena, Fairfield, Texas. We will start checking in animals at 7:30 a.m. until Noon. Animals will be sifted for obvious health problems prior to sale. Knots, other than those caused by recent injections, will exclude an animal from sale. The ETGRA acts as an agent only. Soundness of the animal as well as accuracy of information contained on the registration paper, application to register and service memo are the responsibility of the seller. Please see the sales rules at www.etgra.com/sales.htm . The sale will start at 1 p.m. This will be an open sale with folks with meat, dairy, and pet goats invited to participate. Our last sale was a success with buyers leaving with good stock at fair prices and sellers who were satisfied with the results of their transactions!
. There are many others that are just as important but none are as important to yours truly as the sale being held on September 17th at the Ike in Fairfield, Texas! The ETGRA is having their Fall Sale (because Late Summer Sale is just too many words!) and we are planning to have a real hoot-nanny of a good time!
Preliminary reports indicate that there will be many fine goats there! The ETGRA’s hidden jewel, Ms. Doris Fouse, will be bringing some of her beautiful does to the sale. These will include some of her Boer X Savannah does that many commercial breeders like. Ms, Doris will also be bringing some market wethers. Ms. Jennifer Hanke of Hanke Boer Goats (http://www.hankeboergoats.com/) will be bringing some Does and a Buck. They may also bring some wethers, which I have heard through the grapevine are some really fine animals! Cedar Creek Boer Goats (http://www.cedarcreekgoats.com/) will be bringing about four handfuls of Does. These will be some pretty full blood and percentage Does. Mr. Nathan Lapp (http://www.nvlboergoats.com/), who has graciously offered to call the auction, will be bringing a Paint Full Blood Buck.
Our good friend Ms. Helen Wagner (http://www.shadowfarmsboergoats.com/fs.html) will be bringing a full blood Buck and a few Does. Riding along with Ms, Helen will be a friend with an Angora Buck to sell. Lisa Bradbury of West Star Farms (http://weststarfarms.webs.com/) will be bringing several Does and a couple of bucks including a Red full blood buck.
Last but not least is the fine stock being peddled by the good folks at Rancho Volsa Basias (http://www.rvbboers.com/index.html). We will be bringing some full blood and percentage Does, and some commercial Does and market wethers. We will be bringing a paint buckling, Full Bore. We will also offer some percentage commercial nannies that folks can use for recips. They are wonderful mamas with great worm tolerance.
Mr. Sam Crain from Hillsboro has agreed to attend and buy up any meat goats that folks may bring. Mr. Crain will give fair prices for your meat goats. He bought the floor of lambs and wethers at the Freestone Co. Fair for a good, fair price that made many of the parents happy.
There are many donations of floor prizes and raffle items that will surely make the folks who attend our sale happy. Friend me on Facebook and I will have some pictures of the nice items donated.
Since we are a poor goat breeders association and can’t afford to issue a catalog or have a fancy schmancy web site just for our sale I’m going to ask ya’ll, especially the County Agents and Ag teachers, to pass the word to your 4-H and FFA clubs that we are having this sale with many market wethers and Does and we would like them to attend. The ETGRA would love to welcome ya’ll.
Just one more thing! Ms. Darlene Chaffin has informed me that we will have some concessions at the sale. Snacks and drinks and a BBQ sandwich lunch box. Ya’ll won’t go hungry! Proceeds will benefit the Youth Show Team as will any moneys from raffle items. Look me up and I’ll buy you a soda pop! Preferably a Dr. Pepper!
