when buying kids and older commercial goats what should you look for? We are getting ready to buy our first goats and not really sure what we should be looking for in a commercial goat Thanks in advance!

assuming you mean a meat goat. Look for strong straight backs, thick chest and rears also a long body is best(specially the hip in does) try and feel the goats make sure they feel smooth. that most of what i look for.

Yes I do mean Meat Goats, Boers..when you're saying make sure they feel smooth, you mean to make sure that there are no lumps or knots, cyst?? Thanks

I think what Chrissy means is that the animal blends smoothly together so that the topline isn't dipy and the rump isn't made steep. I'm not too good with Boers, although I do have a 75% Boer Market for 4-H.

exactly what Tara said. You want a very well muscled animal not a boney one, make sure to feel along the back and ribs.
